A patient fell in his room and broke his left middle finger. He reminds me of a cartoon character. He's frial and his nose is always running. He walks with a shuffle and is always holding a cup of coffee or going outside for a cigarette. He was sitting in a wheel chair buckled in and as I approached him from behind I thought, he can walk, why is he in a wheelchair? And the I saw it, the finger that was so clearly fractured at the middle knuckle pointing forward and to the right while the rest of his fingers were relaxed pointing ahead. There was some blood beading underneath from where the bone protruded through and his entire right arm was bruised from wrist to elbow. Fortunately he's bipolar and schizophrenic so he wasn't really feeling any pain...he was making jokes about it in fact...
Love,
Michelle D.
